It will contribute to the improvement of relations between Greece and Ukraine as well as to the development of international, commercial, humanitarian and cultural cooperation
On May 15 , 2024, the meeting of the Committee for the Selection and Appointment of Ambassadors of the city of Odessa was held in order to elect the new ambassador of the city to other countries.
During the meeting, Mr. Konstantin Sobol was elected as the ambassador of Odessa to Greece, specifically to the city of Piraeus.
The mayor of Odesa , Gennadiy Trukhanov, sent an open letter to the mayor of Piraeus, Mr. Yiannis Moralis, regarding the election of Mr. Sobol, who, in turn, heartily accepted it.
As an ambassador between the two cities and by extension the two spaces, he will contribute to the improvement of relations between Greece and Ukraine as well as to the development of international cooperation, commercial, humanitarian and cultural.
Both Odessa and Piraeus are members of the International Black Sea Club (IBSC) which was founded in 1992 in Odessa and is a non-governmental organization with the aim of promoting commercial and cultural cooperation between its member countries.
Piraeus is the third city that participates in this club after Thessaloniki and Kavala.
Mr. Kostiantyn Sobol is an entrepreneur and co-owner of the shipping company MB Shipping LTD, which has an international presence in the field of dry cargo shipping and is also an important member of the Odessa Business Club , which aims to strengthen entrepreneurship for new and existing businesses. In addition, Mr. Sobol has an active presence in various charities.
Having visited Greece many times in the past, he decided about two years ago to settle and do business permanently in our country and to contribute as much as possible to both the local and domestic economy.
His first seat was Salamina, where he created strong ties with the residents and businessmen of the island such as Mr. Evangelos Dimitriadis, who welcomed him, supported him and offered him full assistance in his relocation.
The formalization of this initiative will take place in the coming days where a monument financed by Mr. Konstantin Sobol, a heart-shaped anchor symbolizing the twinning between the two cities, will be installed in the city of Piraeus.
